MY DEEPEST CONCERN ABOUT THIS ‘MAN’ CALLED THE DEVIL
Satan has been here before this dispensation of humanity. He has an advantage of age and experience over me. He has pulled down many mighty in the past; so he is well acquainted with diversified strategies in pulling down the great.
He has dealt with many far more anointed than me before. He has successfully defiled and corrupted great vessels that were once consecrated instruments unto the Lord. Bro Samson was one of such. He has supervised the setback and collapse of many who once began with fiery zeal, passion and commitment towards kingdom advancement.
He knows and understands the nitty-gritties and rules of engagement in the spirit because he himself is a spirit being. He has seen revivals come and gone. He has witnessed every move of God on the face of the earth before now and has equally made his own contributions in ensuring it doesn’t last. Some he succeeded and some he failed. He only succeeded over some because he took advantage of the carelessness of the vessels through which God initiated those moves on the earth.
My anointing and display of spiritual gifts is never strange to him, because he has seen and dealt with more anointed and gifted men in the past. The exploits and results I will command in ministry will never shock him, because he has seen and handled men who commanded more exploits and results for God in the past.
This man called the devil is truly experienced. The many years I’ve spent doing God’s work does not humble him because he feels if he could still stop Bro Moses from entering the promise land after many years of service to God, he can still take his chances on any man in respective of how long they’ve walked with God. This makes him patient in subtlety, not minding the years I’ve spent in God’s will, but waiting for that moment he will have his way to knock me off track.
OH! Now I know why Bro Peter vehemently warned that we should be “sober and vigilant, because our adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, SEEKING WHOM HE MAY DEVOUR” (1st Peter 5:8).
Now I know that Bro Peter’s warning was not theoretical but strictly based on his own personal experience. He himself would have fallen prey to the claws of the adversary had the master not interceded for him (Luke 22:31).
How then do I hope to overcome this age long adversary if I wholly rely on the arm of flesh? How can I ever outsmart him in his craftiness and subtlety if I solely depend on my intellectual capacity and wisdom? How can I ever hope to escape his traps and pitfalls by depending on emotional sensitivity and intuition?
OH!
Now I know why I must take heed to the master’s counsel – “Men ought always to pray and not to faint” (Luke 18:1b).
Now I know that in having a personal prayer life I am not doing God a favour but myself. By praying, I am admitting that I am helpless and absolutely dependent on God.
Therefore:
If I must last on this pilgrim’s journey – I MUST PRAY!
If I must keep the flow of grace unstopped, unhindered and undefiled in my life – I MUST PRAY!
If I must constantly and consistently tap into the flow of divine power to secure dominion on the earth – I MUST PRAY!
If I must build up and sharpen my spiritual discerning abilities to decode the antics of the devil – I MUST PRAY!
To stay spiritually awake and sensitive in other to prevent the enemy from sowing tares among my wheat – I MUST PRAY!
To secure the voice of God for direction and guidance so I can escape the traps and pitfalls of the enemy on every step of the way – I MUST PRAY!
Beloved, prayer is never an option if you hope to last on this journey. Having a personal prayer life is a fundamental requirement for spiritual survival.
